St. Leger Italiano

The St. Leger Italiano is a Listed flat horse race in Italy which is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at San Siro, Milan, over a distance of 2,800 metres (about 1¾ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late October or early November.

It is the Italian version of the St. Leger Stakes, and it was originally restricted to three-year-olds only. It was formerly held at Turin, and it used to be contested over 2,900 metres. For a period it was classed at Group 3 level, and it used to take place in July. The race was opened to horses aged four or older in 1994, and at the same time it was rescheduled for the autumn.
